Finding Balance & Slowing Down

While this isn’t me in the picture…it’s an accurate depiction of how I’m feeling.

Hi Friends!

I hope this letter finds you well. As for me... well, just look at the picture to see how I’m doing. Ha!

I’m sitting here on this beautiful Sunday morning—37 degrees and sunny—trying to figure out how to share all that’s going on in my life without sounding like a whiny baby... because honestly, I’m 100% content right now.

But here’s the thing: life has this funny way of speeding up without us realizing it, right? Between work, personal projects, and the constant pressure to keep up with content creation, it’s so easy to get caught in a cycle of overthinking. Lately, though, I’ve had a few moments of clarity—and let me tell you, it’s been like a breath of fresh air. A little reminder that it’s okay to pause and recalibrate when things start to feel overwhelming.

First off, I want to apologize for my 3-week absence. Rule #1 of blogging is consistency, right? Well, I broke that rule because I wasn’t feeling great about my post planned for 10/28. Then I looked at the rest of the planned posts for the year, and honestly, I started questioning everything. Am I even sharing what I want to share? Am I inspiring you in the way I want to? So I took a step back.

I’m not going to lie, the pressure to post just for the sake of posting really got to me. But I’ve decided that from here on out, I want to share content that resonates. I want it to inspire and uplift you, not just fill space. Whether that’s through simple home projects, decluttering tips, or real-life stories about navigating life’s ups and downs—I’m going to take my time and focus on quality over quantity.

Now, two things happened recently that helped me realize I really needed to take a step back:

First: A blog post about slow living popped up on my Pinterest feed…it was all about slowing down in a world that’s constantly telling us to hustle until we burn out. I must’ve needed to read it because it hit home. The blog, Simplicity From Scratch, talks about preserving your peace and stopping the comparison game. It was such a good reminder to stop listening to everyone else’s expectations—and to remove the deadlines and pressure I’ve put on myself. [Go check it out—she has a lot of really great content!]

Second: All of a sudden, I started seeing these Peaceful Barb quotes everywhere. And that led me to the Barb Knows Best podcast. It’s Barb and her daughter, Michelle, talking about real-life stressors, relationships, and how to cope with all of the messy, difficult parts of life. It’s incredibly real and helpful. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or like you need some good advice on navigating life, give it a listen!

So here’s the point of all this rambling... Starting today, I’m going to post when I feel I have something to share that feels right. It’ll likely be just a couple of times a month, but that’s okay. Life happens, and I’m going to let it unfold without the self-imposed pressure of a post schedule. If you’d like to be notified when a new post goes live, feel free to subscribe below—I’ll make sure to send you a little update with a link directly to the new post.

Other Things I Want to Share:

  • My home right now: the mantle is all fall decor and I’ve got a Christmas tree up with zero ornaments. It’s kind of the perfect metaphor for my life right now—organized chaos. 😂

  • I’m currently listening to two audiobooks: Full of Grace by Dorothea Benton Frank and Finding Me by Viola Davis. I’m not far enough along in either to recommend yet.

  • We’re in the middle of a new project: nightstands, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’ll share when they’re finished! Inspiration from Shara Woodshop Diaries - go check her out on YouTube…Her furniture series is next level.

  • Carl is doing well, happy, and hunting (yesterday was opening day in Indiana). Every time I hear a shot, I get a text that says, “Not me.” It cracks me up every time.

And last but not least... Thank you. Seriously. Thank you for sticking around, for being understanding, and for being part of this little corner of the internet. I’m excited to share more with you soon, but at a pace that feels right—for me, and hopefully for you too.

Until next time,
The Minimalist
